MHAC's Education Program provides outreach to the community in part through health, school, community and corporate fairs. We are looking for individuals who are willing to promote mental health by talking with community members and helping to distribute free information to educate the general public about mental disorders.
Health fairs are scheduled throughout the week, both in the day and evening. If you are interested in volunteering at a health fair please contact: Patrick Kennedy Download Volunteer Application Form (PDF)
MHAC's Speakers Bureau program provides the community with free speaking events to educate and raise awareness of mental disorders. Topics cover mental health issues in children, adolescents/teenagers, adults and older adults. Our volunteers are both licensed mental health professionals and consumers interested in educating the public on mental disorders.
Speakers Bureau volunteers are frequently requested to speak for church groups, non-profit agencies, parents, community based human service organizations, schools, etc. The audiences range from school aged children to senior citizens, from consumers to mental health professionals. Our services are available to any group looking for a speaker. Volunteers are available to present throughout the day including staff meetings, over lunch, or after work. As a Speakers Bureau volunteer you are joining us in our mission of educating the community about mental health issues that touch lives. MHAC is often talking to the media about mental health issues, or is called upon by the media to comment on mental health in the news. In order to educate the public, MHAC keeps a database of professionals, consumers, family members and friends who are willing to talk to the media about their personal or professional experiences. Media calls can be at any time from any media outlet, and often on very short notice. If you feel you have a story to share with MHAC or the media, or are a professional that would be available for public education of mental health issues through media interviews please contact: Jacy Conradt, Community Relations Coordinator Or e-mail your story and contact information to MentalHealth@mhacolorado.org By becoming a volunteer with Mental Health America of Colorado’s (MHAC’s) Outreach and Access Services, you will make a difference to people most in need. If you are a licensed clinician or a Master's-level graduate working toward licensure, you can help! Outreach and Access Services is looking for licensed clinicians or Masters or PhD-level candidates for licensure, including the following, to volunteer at our community host site agencies:
