Volunteer

For over 50 years, Mental Health America of Colorado has succeeded in providing community programs that enhance opportunities for mental wellness for all Coloradoans. This success is made possible by the many volunteers who work alongside staff members to promote mental health and reach out to people in need. There are many ways that you can be a part of this team and make a real difference to people in our communities.

Give a few minutes…

  • Visit our website and educate yourself about mental health.
  • Sign-up for e-mail alerts about upcoming legislation affecting health care in Colorado. You can contact your legislator to ask for his support on issues.
  • Make your voice heard by educating yourself about the issues and exercising your right to vote.

Give a few hours...

  • Volunteer in our office to help with a special mailing, work on a database, help update our website, or to utilize any other skills you may have!
  • Assist mental health professionals as they screen community members for mental health issues.
  • Volunteer at a special MHAC event such as our annual Tribute fundraiser (usually in October) or Legislative Education Day (in January).
  • Attend a school health fair and teach kids or teens about mental health issues.
  • Put your creativity to work with our Community Services staff, to help develop fun ways to reach out to kids, teens, and community members.
  • Research community resources in response to our many inquiring calls.
  • Share your experience and expertise as part of our Speakers Bureau or Pro Bono Outreach Program.

Your work as a volunteer really does count. Email us for more information or to begin making a difference today!

Share Your Story
How can I make a difference? What is special about my story?

The fact is, you can make a difference by sharing your experiences with recovery and being an example that mental health conditions are common and treatable. Work with the media, give testimony at the Capitol or share with the public your experience as a consumer. Your story has the power to reduce stigma, change laws and empower others.
