For Journalists

Newspapers, television, radio and newsletters are powerful. Members of the press not only tell us what we need to know about current events, but most Americans also learn what they know about health and wellness from the media.

MHAC works with members of the press to communicate basic facts such as: mental illnesses are real, common and treatable. One in Five adults and children have a diagnosable mental or emotional disorder, and one in twenty are disabled by their illness. Fewer than a third get any treatment. New medications and targeted psychotherapies do help millions recover, but they could help millions more.

If you are a reporter, MHAC can connect you with:

  • Experts
  • Treatment Providers
  • People receiving mental health treatment
  • Advocates
  • Family members of people with mental disorders
  • Facts
