Mental Health America of Pikes Peak Region www.mentalhealthanswers.org
Mental Health America of Pikes Peak Region has had a primary emphasis on creating a Mental Health Disaster Plan that is to be part of the City and County's disaster master plan. After Sept. 11 it became clear that although there are plans in place around the country to meet the physical needs following a disaster, there was no comprehensive plan to address the immediate and long-term mental health needs of those directly and indirectly impacted by the trauma or disaster.
Working with a broad spectrum of service providers and emergency personnel, our local MHA is working to develop what we believe has not been developed in any other community, a comprehensive plan to address immediate and long term mental health needs.
